What to Do With Your Finished Art (Even If You Don’t Sell It)

What to Do With Your Finished Art (Even If You Don’t Sell It)

If you’ve ever finished a piece of art and thought, “Now what?” — you’re not alone.

I’m Izzy, a kawaii-loving artist, stay-at-home mom, and the creative heart behind kawaiicreations.net. I create in between baby naps, snack breaks, and real-life messes—and I’ve built up a little pile of finished sketches, doodles, digital drawings, and coloring sheet ideas.

But here’s the thing: not every piece has to be sold to be special or meaningful. In fact, some of my favorite creations are ones I’ve kept, gifted, or repurposed.

So if you’re wondering what to do with your finished art—whether it’s traditional, digital, or somewhere in between—here are my favorite ways to celebrate and share your creativity.

1. Display It (Just for You)

You don’t need a gallery wall to show off your work. Hang it on your fridge. Pin it to your workspace. Set it as your phone wallpaper.

Seeing your own art in your everyday life is a gentle reminder: “I made this.” And that’s powerful.

2. Turn It Into a Gift

Print a mini version of your art, write a sweet note, and give it to a friend or loved one.

Bonus: handmade bookmarks, thank-you cards, or even framed prints make great low-cost, heartfelt gifts.

Your art can brighten someone’s day—even if it was just a “for fun” doodle.

3. Use It for DIY Projects

Got a collection of fun characters or sketches? You can:

Turn them into stickers using Canva or sticker paper
Make digital wallpapers (hello, freebies!)
Create printable coloring pages
Design a calendar, recipe cards, or journaling prompts

You don’t have to be a pro designer—just creative and curious.

4. Add It to a Personal Archive

Keep a folder (physical or digital) of your favorite pieces. Title it something cute like “My Happy Art” or “Creative Wins.”

On days when you’re feeling low, flip through it. It’s a quiet celebration of how far you’ve come.

5. Share It Just Because

Post your work on Pinterest, Instagram, your blog—wherever feels safe. Even if you’re not selling, sharing builds creative confidence and helps others feel inspired too.

You never know who might need to see your kind of joy today.

6. Let It Be Practice—and Move On

Not every finished piece needs a second life. Sometimes the point was just to make it. To learn. To feel better. To finish.

And that’s enough.

Your Art Matters—Even If It Stays on Your Shelf

You don’t need an Etsy shop or an audience to validate your creativity.

You just need you. Showing up. Making art. Letting it exist in the world—or just in your own little corner of it.

So celebrate that finished piece, no matter what you do with it.

You created something from nothing—and that’s something worth holding onto.
