Dear Busy Creative Moms: Here’s How I Manage My Time Wisely (And How You Can Too)
Let me start by saying this—you are doing amazing. Whether you’re running after your toddler, preparing meals, cleaning up spills, or sneaking in some self-care, you’re already balancing more than most people can imagine. And if you’re also chasing a creative dream on top of that? You’re a superhero.
As a creative mom myself, I get it. I know what it’s like to want to build something of your own while still putting your family first. So today, I want to share a little bit of my journey—and how I’ve learned to manage my time wisely in the chaos of motherhood.
My Creative Journey Began During Nap Time
Back in May 2024, I started experimenting with drawing kawaii art. At first, it was just a test—something fun I could do at night after my son fell asleep. I uploaded a piece to YouTube, just to see if anyone would notice. And to my surprise… people did.
The comments were kind. People smiled. And the best part? It made me smile too. That simple act of sharing something joyful reminded me of who I was outside of just being “Mom.”
So I kept going.
Finding Time as a Mom-Creator
Like many moms, I don’t have endless free hours to create. My son always comes first. But when he’s playing independently, napping, or at daycare (even for just a few hours a week), I use that time wisely.
Sometimes I draw late at night, even when I’m tired. Sometimes I brainstorm during his snack time or while the laundry spins. Life gets busy—but I’ve learned that even 5 to 15 minutes of focused time can lead to something beautiful.
There’s no perfect time. But there is now.
Pinterest: My Creative Lifeline
One of my favorite tools is Pinterest. It’s not just for recipes or party planning—it’s a goldmine of creative inspiration.
Whether I’m looking for new art ideas, color palettes, blog inspiration, or marketing tips, Pinterest helps me stay motivated and discover new ways to grow my brand.
I save pins, make vision boards, and even upload my own art there. It keeps me connected to the creative world in a way that feels supportive, not overwhelming.
Free Tools That Help Me Get More Done
Besides Pinterest, here are some of my favorite free tools that help me stay organized, inspired, and on track:
ChatGPT – My go-to creative assistant. I use it for blog drafts (like this one!), email writing, brainstorming art titles, or even parenting ideas.
Canva – Perfect for making Pinterest pins, YouTube thumbnails, and social media graphics. I love their templates and kawaii-friendly fonts.
Google Keep / Notes App – Great for capturing ideas on the go. I jot down sketch ideas, blog topics, and funny phrases while chasing after my son.
Pixabay or Pexels – Free image libraries for background art or mockups.
Tailwind (free plan) – Helps with Pinterest scheduling so I don’t have to manually post every single day.
Trello – A visual planner I use to map out blog ideas, weekly goals, and to-do lists.
All of these help me keep creating—even when life is a little messy (okay, a lot messy).
A Loving Reminder
If you’re reading this with your baby in your lap or while reheating your coffee for the third time today, let me tell you something: your creativity matters. You don’t have to wait for the perfect moment or a full day of free time.
Take five minutes. Take ten. Take whatever you’ve got.
You’re allowed to dream, build, and create—even as a mom.
And if no one’s told you today—you’re doing a beautiful job.
